As a Muslim, our beliefs is that we are here for a temporary short period of time, and one day we all will leave this world for the eternal life of the hereafter. This is something that we can’t deny as Allah has mentioned in the Qura’an:

كل نفس ذائقة الموت وانما توفون اجوركم يوم القيامة فمن زحزح عن النار وادخل الجنة فقد فاز وما الحياة الدنيا الا متاع الغرور

Every soul will taste death, and you will only be given your [full] compensation on the Day of Resurrection. So he who is drawn away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has attained [his desire]. And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion. (Surah Al-Imran 3:185)

To suffer the loss of someone you love so dearly is the most difficult events that you shall experience in your lifetime.

Wither it is expected or sudden nothing can prepare you for the emotions that will follow.

Funerals in Islam (called Janazah in Arabic) follow fairly specific rites, though they are subject to regional interpretation and variation in custom.
